raids linked to fighting(AP)–7 hours agoPALI Ind. — Authorities have seized about 80 pit bulls during raids at two southern Indiana sites suspected of breeding and training dogs for illegal fighting. State police say dog carcasses and dog fighting paraphernalia were also seized when the Indiana Gaming Commission and other agencies executed search warrants Tuesday in range County. Adam Parascandola of the Humane Society of the United States says many dogs had scars and marks consistent with fighting. Thirty-nine-year-old Brian E. Denny of French Lick was arrested on a preliminary charge of possession of animals for the purpose of animal fighting contests and an outstanding warrant for battery.

Family dog quarantined after biting 3-year-old Brentwood girl

She was severely bitten on her left leg and suffered a less serious bite on her other leg. Contra Costa County Animal Services took custody of the dog which will be quarantined at a Martinez facility until the agency completes an investigation into why the dog attacked the girl Misquez said. The girl was injured about 6:30 p. Monday at her home in the 2400 block of Positano Avenue. “The child was crying the dog became agitated and attacked the child” Misquez said.
Chicago TV judge to hear 5-legged puppy case

Plaintiff John Strong operates a New York animal show that features disfigured animals. He’s suing the dog’s original owner Calvin wensby for $4000. Strong says wensby reneged on an agreement to sell him the animal for $3000. wensby says they didn’t sign a contract. wensby sold the Chihuahua-terrier mix to a North Carolina woman who wanted to keep the pooch out of the animal show. She’s had the dog’s fifth leg removed.
Sheriff: dog attacks infant twice in 2 days

– The Skagit County sheriff’s office says a 9-month-old infant was attacked twice in two days by her grandmother’s dog. Chief Criminal Deputy Will Reichardt says his office is recommending an assault charge be filed against the grandmother. Prosecutor Rich Weyrich tells the Skagit Valley Herald he does not yet know if any charges will be filed.
