us Digg This Honolulu’s very own hot dogs from Hank’s Haute Dogs have been named to the nation’s top 10 best by Bon Appetit Magazine. The magazine named Hank’s as one of the best new places in the country to have a hot dog. It was the only Hawaii restaurant to make the list. Hank’s Haute Dogs will be featured in the magazine’s August issue. The magazine noted the Portuguese hot dog.

Catching up on my weekend Web reading I came across an interesting video from National Geographic about dogs who sniff out cancer and health problems associated with diabetes. ne of the dogs featured a collie named Tinker began whining and barking when his owner who has diabetes experienced dangerous drops in blood sugar. Although Tinker wasn’t trained at first his reactions to the hypoglycemic attacks led to further training as a qualified “hypo alert” dog. The video also features the work of the British research center.

During that period I timed trainingsessions made friends with other eaters on the circuit and took ageneral interest in this bazaar subculture. The six-time winner has has kept the fans guessing when it comes to his locks.

)But although we expect the unexpected from our pets during the Fourth we tend to think of working dogs as calm and unflappable. Not so in the case of J. drug-sniffing dog who escaped from his kennel Saturday night when he apparently panicked at the sound of nearby fireworks.

Cupertino City Council to hear update on off-leash dog park strategies

Since April the group has been meeting for weekly early morning debate and discussion about finding a way to get dogs leash-free exercise. The council recently budgeted funds for an off-leash or fenced dog area in the current fiscal year and wants the volunteer group to identify possible locations and a strategy for allowing off-leash time in Cupertino. ne preliminary proposal suggests a fenced trial period in one park and an unfenced off-leash trial in three other parks during set hours. The proposal also suggests conducting numerous surveys and reporting methods to track progress and neighborhood opinion during and after the trial period.

Gordon Lorenz was fined £175 by Llandudno magistrates after his spaniel fouled a grassy area at the resort’s West Shore. Lorenz 59 who has recorded the likes of Charlotte Church and Atomic Kitten was also ordered to pay £150 costs. He was fined in 2008 after a dog called Bertie fouled a beach and cycle path. Lorenz has made more than 800 recordings of performers such as Shirley Bassey Cliff Richard and Petula Clark.
