Investigators are now trying to locate the dog that bit Dolly Newell on Saturday afternoon as she walked near the Harbor Bay Landing Shopping Center on Bay Farm Island. Newell was walking her black Rottweiler at the time. Police suspect she was bitten after she stopped and talked with a fellow dog-walker. “We think that she was likely petting the other person’s dog and it snapped at her” Alameda police Sgt.

‘Alpha Dog’ director says no notes to share

—The director of the film “Alpha Dog” testified that any notes he took in interviews for the film about a murder allegedly ordered by Jesse James Hollywood were turned over to his production company which had likely destroyed them. Nick Cassavettes was ordered to appear in the Santa Barbara courtroom Wednesday after a motion filed by the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s ffice seeking to compel him to share information prosecutors thought would be relevant to their case against Hollywood whose trial begins next month. Cassavettes said he took notes in some of the interviews he conducted with witnesses and participants but kept none of them and had nothing to share with prosecutors. “I’m not trying to be stubborn” he said and added that such notes are usually tossed out and he had not foreseen that a court might be interested in them. Asked by prosecutors if he made copies of any notes or may have shared them with others including the defense Cassavettes answered “I don’t know I might have.

Smith an administrative assistant living on Milwaukee’s north side bought the Pomeranian as a puppy from the Wisconsin Humane Society for $450 in November. It’s her first dog she said. In late January her boyfriend was getting out of a car when the dog named Steve wriggled out of his grasp and fell to the pavement breaking both its front legs. Smith checked with a few animal clinics and found it would cost a couple thousand dollars or more to operate on Steve. She had an insurance policy for the dog but the clinics she visited either didn’t honor it or wanted the money up front. "I love this dog like one of my children" Smith said.

Port officials bought 12. 7 tons of kibble in June to test new baggage conveyor systems at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. In ctober the 1600 bags were stored in a warehouse with snowstorms keeping it there longer than anticipated. n Tuesday port officials voted to donate the dog food to two animal shelters but it was too much for the outlets in Seattle and King County to store.

There are two lessons a reader can get from the story. First, one must never leave a dog wound untreated. A lot have become too confident thinking that most dogs are vaccinated. However, it is not always the case. Second, the victim or family member must seek legal help. Whatever can be recovered from the claim can be used to cover medical expenses and to seek better medical treatment.
