The tribunal heard that cabbie Narayan Fathi refused to let Mr Elson and his then guide dog Luigi into the taxi because he thought the dog would make the car dirty. Mr Ellson said the incident was too common and prompted him to take action to make taxi drivers aware of their obligations not to discriminate against guide dogs. A group of visually impaired people and their guide dogs joined Mr Ellson as a show of support in the tribunal. Mr Ellson said a survey had shown that 93 percent of metropolitan Adelaide guide dog users had experienced troubles with cab drivers. "Most blind people don’t complain – it’s very difficult to be blind and I have been two years on this one complaint most people would have given up by now" he said. The owner of the taxi company Panayiotis Bougessis has argued that he should not be liable for any damages because his company leased cabs to its drivers as a kind of booking agent. The 18-month-old dog called Max was shot in the head while guarding a yard in Colchester on Sunday police said. The dog said to be well-known to local people was put down by vets later said a police spokeswoman. Police said they wanted to trace a long-haired white man wearing a blue hat who was seen running from the yard shortly after 2200 BST.
