City living is for the dogs
San Francisco Chronicle – Apr 29, 2008
tmpl –>City living is for the dogsMy favorite animals as a child were duck-billed platypuses and dolphins &mdash both deemed by my parents to be too impractical (and most-likely illegal) to have as pets. Instead I grew up with schools of suicidal goldfish (they were always jumping out of the tank) turtles “borrowed” from the golf course pond and the occasional stray cat &mdash all dubbed “Miss Kitty. ” But mostly my family had dogs. In rural Michigan where I spent my formative years our dogs lived outside and were only invited in on the coldest of nights. They were a happy rough-and-tumble bunch who swam in rivers and lakes rolled in mud puddles and seldom got baths except with the garden hose.

comp –> Video of trooper kicking dog released. comp –> Dan Kane Staff WriterComment on this story Dog handlers for the State Highway Patrol have stunned dogs with Tasers swung them by their leashes until they became airborne and hit them with plastic bottles full of pebbles. None of that was an issue until a trooper used his cell phone to record a video of a sergeant kicking his police dog repeatedly while it was leashed to a loading dock its hind legs just touching the ground. The video was made public for the first time Monday and it shows Sgt. Jones kicking Ricoh 7 a Belgian Malinois five times causing the dog to swing as much as two feet under the loading dock.

Imagine where I’d have been without the dogs
I’m sure there’s an IT angle here somewhere but I think it’s gone for a quickie with the Paris Hilton angle. What a stupid study! By Paul Posted Tuesday 29th April 2008 13:32 GMT.

The joys (and jealousies) of joint custody
San Francisco Chronicle – Apr 29, 2008
tmpl –>The joys (and jealousies) of joint custodyMy ex-boyfriend and I schedule a “Doone swap” about every two weeks. We’ve been sharing our dog since last August and much to the amazement of my friends and family so far so good. I’ll admit that in the beginning it was a little touch and go &mdash well maybe more than a little. I was privy to WAY more information about his love and travel life than I was prepared for &mdash like the time I called him to arrange a pick up and learned that he and The Doone were both headed across the Bay Bridge for a sleep over with his new lady. ) r when he asked me if I could take The Doone over the holidays because he would be spending them in Fiji &mdash also with his new lady… Well-meaning friends sometimes still hint that keeping the Doone in my life is just an excuse to stay tethered to my ex. Believe what they may I can honestly say that I do it for her and her alone. She’s my first dog as an adult and I fell head over heels in love. I realize that some day I may have to give her up but for now I remain the happy and proud co-owner of one Miss Lorna Doone. Do any of you share your pets? I’d love to hear your stories &mdash the good bad ugly and everything in between. Posted By: Amelia Glynn (.
